“Whatever the cost of our libraries, the price is cheap compared to that of an ignorant nation” – Walter Cronkite Agreeing with Cronkite, the Rapid City Library Foundation focuses on raising funds for important library enhancements to maintain our library’s crucial value to our community. Although the city’s annual budget provides operational funding for the library collections, staff, various events, and the building, these funds do not meet the community’s growing information and education needs. That the Library Foundation is committed to help create the best possible library for our community is demonstrated by the Foundation’s previous projects, including construction of a local history room, sponsorship of a Maurice Sendak art exhibit, and author events with well-known authors such as C. J. Box and Dan O’Brien.
With your help, the Rapid City Library Foundation would like to fund needed library enhancements such as a mobile library service and new neighborhood libraries to provide library services to all areas of the community. Without donors and patrons such as you, these vital educational activities and enhanced access to enriching materials will simply not be possible.
